Arrival Mingle

Who: Everyone.
What: The Chosen return or arrival in the City.
When: July 1st.
Where: The Districts of the City.
Anything Else? Feel free to make your own arrivals, or throw an arrival starter here! The party is open to all. As a reminder, language barriers are not an issue in the Tower.

The City hadn't changed at all in its time without the chosen. If anything, The City seemed a little dusty. The Chosen would find themselves waking in their assigned homes. Even if they were returning and had other homes. They would wake in their chosen home. For the most part, anyway, a few chosen had special ways of arriving.

The assigned housing varied depending on the district they were assigned according to their sin. However, everyone had a box, a welcome package awaiting them upon waking. Inside the box was an extra invitation inviting them to the tower if they so decided to come visit upon arrival.

The city was once again bustling with life. Cars, demons, and the people of the City moving as if time had never stopped. Business as usual for the returning Chosen.

The Tower

While it was not Aiden's district, he had talked the Duchess into opening up the ballroom, and Skiffell to provide food, that just didn't seem to end. The grand ballroom was filled with many delectable dishes, and a small band of demons playing big band music in the corner.

The doors were propped open with the music drifting out to help lull the chosen who decided to attend. A handwritten poster board outside the open doors displaying 'Welcome Chosen!' with about 10 smiley faces drawn on it. While normally parties at the tower demanded fancy dress, Aiden throwing a party meant that rule would not be abided. He didn't dig out the fancy threads for anyone. This was a different kind of party, put together by the lord of Leisurebrook.

While Aiden didn't plan to reveal himself as a magistrate, he did love to mingle with people and hear their stories. So he was there. He was napping at a round table off in a corner, his messy brown hair spilled over his crossed arms as he napped as if he didn't have a care in the world.

Those were both some good ass-kicking boots. Michael had never intended to be a fighter, he had nearly become a priest before science became everything to him. And life never went as expected. So here he was, standing next to someone who looked like she belonged in one of those clubs that used to help quench his thirsts. Some of the best people hung out in those kinds of places.

Good music too. Even if he liked a bit more 70's flare to his music.

"Curious indeed. I do wonder why some are returning, and other's new. And yes, you are the second I have met who has returned. A woman named Sara has also returned." he spoke with a nod. Shifting the small plate to the hand, he had just put in his mouth to offer his other. Trying to keep his fangs hidden as much as he could. Which was hard given how big they are. He held his hand over. "Michael Morbius. A pleasure to meet you." His mother had raised him well, life just dicked him over.

Devi blinks a little at the hand like she didn't know what to do with it, but her brain powering back up rushes in all at once with a 'OH!' of realization as she sticks a paint stained hand into his. Right. Handshakes.

"Don't say that too hastily, your mileage may vary. Devi D. I guess we're the alliteration gang, aren't we." Her hand drops only to pluck off a grape from her plate, readying it for the popping into her mouth that was coming.

"And your answer is 'fresh meat'. New blood, new life. Like spring, but for reality, isn't that nice." She was easy, airy, and utterly unmoved by the magnitude of the subject matter. "I don't know a Sara though. Sufficed to say, I've seen a few. Still waiting for more data to see the skew. Either way, a good thing. Maybe someone plugged something back in."

He noticed that pause, he assumed it was a cultural thing and chose to not question it. Shaking once, she did before he switched the plate back to his other hand.

He'd have to amend that in a few days, when some memories resurfaced, but for now he assumed her correct. Sure, he'd jumped worlds back home, but that was the usual fuckery of his world once the one becomes a meta or supernatural. Say goodbye to the mundane.

"Suppose I should be a little more careful there, but let's be real. I won't." 99.9% of Michael Morbius' problems were his own fault. "Something like that, yes." The amused accented tone agreed.

He chuckled at her reply, and the utterly unmoved nature of it. Oh, she is interesting. His fangs showing when he grinned. "Yes, new blood, indeed. Though, that is fascinating, I would have assumed everyone knew each other. I intend to try to figure out as much as I can. Scientific inquiry and all." A vampire he may be, but he will always be a scientist first.

"Being careful is overrated," she says, dismissing the concern with a flap of her head. "Shakes things up, keeps people on their toes. It's all about creativity and how they react."

Sharp eyes caught those fangs as he grinned and it wasn't a jump to stitch it all together. Vampire. Her eyes lit up.

"And what kind of science is that?"

"The timid rarely make changes." He was sure it was a quote of some kind, but he didn't remember from who, nor did he care too. "Yes, that exactly, and always remember to document interesting results." Michael mused in return.

This one wasn't like that old Malkavian, but something much younger, but closer.

"I was a hematologist, studied the genetic mutations of the blood, and blood-borne illnesses. I have a few other fields, but that is the big one. Interested in science?"

"But when they do," she cautions with a playful wag of her finger. When the timid finally move, they could pull off some very interesting things.

Her colored eyebrows rose in interest and surprise.

"Holy shit, so like. Real Science. I am, actually. Interested. But not in the traditional paths. I like the sciences of magic. Which, I know - kind of an oxymoron, but it all comes from someplace. From something. How many variations of 'something' is what remains to be seen. I've already seen one Root of All Magic. And it was fucking terrifying but ooh what a ride."

"It's kinda fun when they do." He had been one of those people, this was why Nikos had to accept his Nobel and do most of the public speaking. Michael had just wanted to work at the time, to not be bothered. A lot had changed, vampirism aside.

"Yes, my first love." He chuckled when he said it. "I'd be happy to share once I find something to work one. And I get the sciences of magic, I am not as closed-minded as some. One can't be when they are on a team with Dr. Strange and the Ghost Rider." He took a drink after he said that. The Midnight Sons were an interesting group. "Strange is a doctor proper, and the most powerful magic user in our world." He explained. "Always quite the ride."

Devi grins and bounces her eyebrows once. Definitely fun when they do.

But she tilts her head and blinks as he goes on. "You don't mean like. The comic guys, right?" Holy shit, had she met someone else out of print? Finally? She wasn't going to dwell on it in case he was Weird about it.

"I'm sure you'll find a place here and if you don't find it, I'm sure you can make it. Everything else about this town is thought and brought up from nothing, and Science is ever a creative kinda endeavor. Ask your local Magistrate. Where'd you get thrown, anyway? Who's your next step up in line?"
